FAQs
Is there a trial class I can take before I register?
Step By Step offers a one-time, one class free trial class for our children’s classes. (This does not include monthly program sessions, summer camp, or seasonal specialty workshops). Please contact office@stepbystepinc.com for more information.
When does registration for classes begin?
Registration opens in June for classes beginning in September. If you have any questions about registration or class placement, please contact office@stepbystepinc.com. Class schedule and registration is available online through our JackRabbit Parent Portal or by viewing our class schedule. Step By Step offers monthly program sessions and specialty workshops which have event-specific registration deadlines.
How is class placement determined?
Traditional dance styles are developed through skill, experience, and a strong foundation of technique. Step By Step seeks to understand a student’s individuality and recognizes that their personal development is based on a variety of factors including age, experience, social, emotional, cognitive, and physical maturity. Our classroom teachers may determine it is in your child’s best interest and safety to dance in an alternative class after registration. All class placements will be finalized by our studio directors after the first two weeks of classes.
Are parents invited to observe classes?
Step-By-Step has historically offered two parent observation weeks, one in fall and one in spring. Parent observation has not been held since 2019 due to COVID-19. Please check back for updates.
How do I register for adult classes?
All classes are available as drop-ins, but you can save money and be guaranteed a spot by registering online for a full session. Please visit our Adult Dance Classes page for more information.
What kind of performing opportunities do you offer?
Our main performance is held once a year, in May, and features our regular season students. Biannually, we produce a Winter Benefit Gala in support of a local charity. For additional performing opportunities please inquire about our Next Step Dance Company (NSDC) program.
What should I wear to dance class?
Please visit our classroom attire page for specific class attire requirements.
Do you do birthday parties?
Yes. Please see our kids party packages page for more information.
